Limited edition print of Bob Dylan by photographer Elliott Landy taken outside Dylan's Byrdcliffe home in Woodstock in 1969. This image was used for the album cover of 'Nashville Skyline'.
Elliott Landy recalls in his book 'Dylan in Woodstock', "When the light was just right, we started to go outside. As we were walking out the door, he hesitated for a moment, grabbed a hat from the coat rack and asked, 'Do you think we could use this?' I had no idea if it would be good or not, so I told him, "Take it, and we'll see.' We walked around through the woods behind his house looking for a good spot.
He paused for a moment, apparently inspired, and said, 'What about taking one from down there?' pointing to the ground. As I started kneeling, I saw the ground was muddy but didn't mind.
'Do you think I should wear this?' he asked, starting to put on his hat, smiling because it was kind of a goof, and he was having fun visualising himself in this silly-looking traditional hat. 'I don't know,' I said as I snapped the shutter. It all happened so fast.
If I had resisted in any way, I would have missed the photograph that became the well-known front cover."
This print is available in an open edition. It is signed on the front under the image.
